Groban's Education:

Groban attended Bridges Academy in Studio City, California, a school for grades 6-12 that specializes in educating gifted students. While there, after his normal school studies, he studied theater. In 1998, he enrolled at the Interlochen Arts Program in Interlochen, Michigan, to study and perform musical theater. That same year, Groban was introduced to Grammy winning producer, David Foster, by his vocal coach.

Groban's Career: The Beginning:

Foster arranged for Groban to take part in handfuls of high-profile events which included the inauguration of California's governor Grey Davis and a rehearsal performance of "The Prayer" with Celine Dion in place of Andrea Bocelli. In 2000, he debuted his first recording, a duet with Lara Fabian called "For Always" from the movie A.I.: Artificial Intelligence. Groban's big break came from his role on Ally McBeal in 2001, when his character, Malcolm Wyatt, sang the song "You're Still You." Due to the extreme amount of fan emails received, the producers asked Groban to reprise his role the following season.

Groban's Career: 2001-2003:

Soon after his appearance on Ally McBeal, he released his self-titled debut album, Josh Groban which subsequently went double-platinum and has since then sold 5 million copies in the U.S. In 2002, Groban perfomed "The Prayer" with Charlotte Church at the 2002 Winter Olympics' closing ceremonies. Also that year, he performed at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert in Oslo and a Christmas concert at the Vatican. In 2003, Groban released his 2nd album, Closer, and sold 375,000 copies in the first week. The album's single "You Raise Me Up" earned Groban his first Grammy nomination for Best Male Vocal Performance.

Groban's Career: 2004-2006:

In 2004, Groban visited Nelson Mandela during a trip to South Africa and was appointed an official ambassador for Mandela's Project 46664. Inspired by the trip, he launched his own foundation, the Josh Groban Foundation, which has raised over a million dollars. In 2005, he earned his first Academy Award nomination for Best Song for the song "Believe" from the movie, The Polar Express. In 2006, he released his third studio album, Awake, with songs that he co-wrote and co-produced. The album also features collaborations with several popular artists including Imogen Heap, Dave Matthews, as well as Herbie Hancock.

Groban's Career: 2007-Present:

For the most part of 2007, Groban went on tour performing in 81 cities in North America, Europe, Australia, and the Philippines. That same year, he released a Christmas album, Noel, featuring performances with the London Philharmonic. It sold over 4 million copies in the U.S. and spent 5 weeks at number one on the Billboard music chart. In 2008, he performed in various concerts and festivals. In 2009, Groban made the tabloids with a rumor that he was dating the pop star, Katy Perry ("I Kissed a Girl" and "Waking Up in Vegas"), to which he denied.
