Symphony no. 4

While Beethoven was composing his famous 5th Symphony, he set it aside to work on a symphonic commission he received from the Sicilian Count, Franz von Oppersdorff. Beethoven began work on the new symphony during the autumn months of 1806. Though much is unknown as to why Beethoven set the 5th Symphony aside, it can be said that the after hearing Beethoven's 2nd Symphony by his own in-house orchestra, the Count was thrilled with what he had heard. Perhaps Beethoven's 5th Symphony was too dramatic for the Count's liking.
