World Choir Games: What is it?:
Organized in 2000 by the INTERKULTUR Foundation, World Choir Games, often referred to as the World Choir Olympics, is an eleven day choral extravaganza held every two years where 20,000+ singers young and old come from around the world to compete in over 20 genres of choral music. It is regarded as one of the worlds best choral competition due to its international qualities.
The Purpose:
The purpose of the World Choir Games is simple: to bring together people from many nations, setting aside their differences, to unite in song and peaceful competition. Oh, and it doesn't hurt that the events generate millions of dollars of revenue to their host cities. During the week and a half long competition, competitors alone are estimated to spend $14 million and consume 50,000 hotel room nights! The competition also attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors.
