New York Philharmonic's Summertime Classics, 2009

About Summertime Classics 2009:

This year, conductor Bramwell Tovey will host and conduct four programs and present facts and personal insights about the music during the performances. This year's featured artists are Vladimir Feltsman (piano), Marc-Andre Hamelin (piano), Simone Dinnerstein (piano), and Denyce Graves (mezzo-soprano). As an added bonus, Summertime Classics tickets can be presented at the following restaurants to receive a 10% discount from June 30 to July 10: Matts Grill, Nocello, Porter House New York, and Whym.

Summertime Classics Ticket Information:

This year, if you buy two tickets (each for a different concert), you'll get a special price of $35 per ticket. That $35 ticket price applies to every seat in the concert hall, so the sooner you purchase your tickets, the greater the chance you'll get prime seating. For more information, visit www.nyphil.org.

Summertime Classics - Russian Fest:

  • Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at 7:30PM
  • Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at 7:30PM
  • Thursday, July 2, 2009 at 7:30PM
The Russian Fest concerts will feature Tchaikovsky's Polonaise from Eugene Onegin, Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, Khachaturian's Three Pieces from Gayane, and Tchaikovsk's Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture.

Summertime Classics - Born on the Fourth of July:

  • Friday, July 3, 2009 at 8:00PM
  • Saturday, July 4, 2009 at 3:00PM
These concerts will feature Gershwin's Strike Up the Band, Variations on "I Got Rhythm," and Rhapsody in Blue, Copland's Appalachian Spring Suite, and selected marches by Sousa.

Summertime Classics - From the Danube to the Rhine:

  • Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at 7:30PM
  • Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at 7:30PM
These concerts will feature J. Strauss II's Overture to The Gypsy Baron, Liszt's Piano Concerto No. 2, Brahms' Hungarian Dances (selections), and R. Strauss' Der Rosenkavalier Suite.

Summertime - Bolero and other French Delights:

  • Thursday, July 9, 2009 at 7:30PM
  • Friday, July 10, 2009 at 8:00PM
These final concerts will feature Bizet's "March of the Toreadors," "Habanera," and "Seguidilla" from Carmen, Saint-Saens' Bacchanale and "Mon coeur s'ouvre a ta voix" from Samson and Delilah, Berlioz' Le Corsaire Overture, and Ravel's Bolero.
