By Aaron Green, About.com

When:

June 19 - September 21

Where:

Highland Park, IL

About Ravinia Festival:

For over 100 years, the Ravinia Festival has been entertaining audiences of all nationalities in combined numbers totaling in the tens of millions. What started in 1904 as an event to lure riders to the fledgling Chicago & Milwaukee Electric Railroad, the A.C. Frost Company created Ravinia as an amusement park with a baseball diamond, dance floor, dining rooms, a casino, and an electric fountain. Even though their efforts failed to save the railroad and the park switched hands several times, those people who took ownership took great care in providing high quality musical events.

Ticket Information:

Tickets for the Ravinia Festival are available for purchase on and after April 16. For more information about how to purchase tickets online, in the mail, and on the telephone, visit the Ravinia online box office.

Featured Artists:

With three full months of concerts and performances, there are plenty of performers to see! Diana Krall, Julliard String Quartet, Susan Graham, Thomas Hampson, Lang Lang, Yo-Yo Ma, Sir James Galway, Tokyo String Quartet, Carrie Underwood, Tony Bennett, Patti Lupone, the Mendelssohn String Quartet, are just a few of the many performers.
