1. San Francisco Symphony

Famed soprano, Jessye Norman, will lend her amazing voice to sing American songs by Duke Ellington. Also in the program are selections by Berlioz, Copland, and Ravel. Before and after the performance, there will be complementary drinks, cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, live entertainment, and dancing. Proceeds from the gala will be donated to the San Francisco Symphony's supported education and community programs.
2. Houston Symphony

The all Strauss (and a little bit of Mozart) performance by the Houston Symphony conducted by Hans Graf, joined by violinist Frank Huang and violist Wayne Brooks, will feature Strauss' Die Fledermaus, Annen Polka, and On the Beautiful Blue Danube, as well as Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante for Violin, Viola, and Orchestra.
3. New York Philharmonic

Opening its 169th season, the New York Philharmonic, conducted by Music Director, Alan Gilbert, will present the US premiere of Wynton Marsalis's Swing Symphony, a Co-Commission by the New York Philharmonic, Berlin Philharmonic, Los Angeles Philharmonic, and The Barbican. Also to be performed is Strauss' Don Juan, and Hindermith's Symphonic Metamorphoses on Themes by Carl Maria von Weber.
4. Atlanta Symphony Orchestra

Conductor Robert Spano begins the 2010-11 season with two exciting works by Mozart and Berlioz: Mozart's Jeunehomme Piano Concerto No. 9, one of his most critically acclaimed concertos, and Berlioz' Symphony Fantastique.
5. Cleveland Orchestra

World renowned Cleveland Orchestra and conductor Franz Welser-Möst will perform a spectacular show featuring Stravinsky's The Right of Spring, Debussy's Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun, Bach's Lutheran Mass in F Major, and Takemitsu's Dream/Window. Soprano Laura Claycomb, mezzo-soprano Kelley O'Connor, and baritone Andrew Foster-Williams will also perform in the orchestra's opening night performance.
6. Boston Symphony Orchestra

Extraordinary conductor, James Levine, will lead the Boston Symphony Orchestra and renowned baritone, Bryn Terfel, in a Wagner themed program featuring works from The Flying Dutchman, Die Walkure, Siegfried Idyll, and Die Meistersinger von Nurnberg. Tickets range in price from $75.00 to $2,500.
7. Chicago Symphony Orchestra

Formally known as the Opening Night Gala, this year's newly titled Symphony Ball will honor the arrival of Riccardo Muti, the newly appointed music director of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. With works like Rossini's William Tell Overature, Liszt's Les preludes, and Beethoven's Violin Concerto. Similar to other galas, there will be pre and post concert celebrations.
8. San Antonio Symphony

After an extensive three-year search, the San Antonio Music Director has finally been chosen. Maestron Sebastian Lang-Lessing will make his debut performance conducting the Children's Chorus of San Antonio, the San Antonio Symphony Mastersingers, as well as the orchestra. The program includes Bizet's "Children's Chorus March" from Carmen, Brahms "Verlorne Jugent", "In Stiller Nacht", and "Abendstandchen", and Mahler's Symphony No. 1.
9. Kansas City Symphony

Grammy Award winning violinist, Hillary Hahn will join the Kansas City Symphony in performances of Johnathan Leshnoff's Starburst, Sibelius' Violin Concerto, Ravel's Valses nobles et sentimentales, and Stravinsky's Suite from The Firebird.
