It's no surprise the 2011 Oscar nominees for Best Original Score consist of Hollywood heavyweight composers like Alexandre Desplat (Fantastic Mr. Fox), Hans Zimmer (Sherlock Holmes), and A.R. Rahman (Slumdog Millionaire). But what may be a surprise, is the nomination of Trent Resnor and Atticus Ross' original score for The Social Network. Trent Reznor, largely known as the lead singer in the rock band, Nine Inch Nails, is a newcomer to the world of film scoring. And Atticus Ross has scored only one other movie, The Book of Eli. It will be interesting to see who the Academy will choose as this year's winner.
