Young Stars of Classical Music

Brilliant, Talented, and Truly Amazing

By Aaron Green, About.com

In the sea of young classical musicians, the talent each one possesses is something of which to be proud. However, merely possessing the talent will not get one very far. It takes hard work and many years of sacrifice and dedication to achieve the level of success similar to these four young classical musicians.

1. Jennifer Koh

Violinist, Jennifer Koh, a graduate from the Oberlin Conservatory and the Curtis Institute, has a handful of spectacular recordings. From Schumann's Sonatas for Violin and Piano to a variety of solo chaconnes, Koh is building an impressive recording history. Her mastery of the instrument is spectacular, and her performances are both beautiful and powerful. Expect to hear great things from Jennifer Koh in the future to come.

2. The Ahn Trio

The Ahn Trio also has a handful of records under their belts. Three beautiful sisters born in South Korea and raised in the United States make up the Ahn Trio. The Juilliard educated sisters, Angella (violin), Lucia (piano), and Maria (cello), have been performing for over two decades. Beginning with Mozart and Haydn, the girls established their technique in classical music. However, as time progressed, their own musical tastes slowly emerged. Now, alongside classical music, the girls perform a style of music that blurs the lines of classical music and modern music.

3. The 5 Browns

Ryan (1986), Melody (1984), Gregory (1983), Deondra (1980), and Desirae (1979) form a group of young classical pianists with extreme talent. The 5 Browns became the first group of five siblings ever admitted into the Juilliard School of Music simultaneously. In 2002, the 5 Browns caught the attention of the public eye, as well as their current manager (Joel Diamond), after appearing in People Magazine and on the Oprah show and Sixty Minutes. To date, the 5 Browns have released three classical albums.

4. Lang Lang

Born in China in 1982, Lang Lang is one of the leading young pianists in the world. Having already performed with several of the world's leading orchestras, Lang Lang piano virtuosity is something not to be taken lightly. With over ten albums, the young pianist is steadily climbing a path to the top.
