I love award season. It's a celebration of arts, music, and culture. It brings forth albums and artists, who would often go without notice to the novice classical music lover. The award for best engineered album goes to the engineer - the person responsible for expertly recording the performance. But, without the hard work of these men and women, there is no way we listeners could enjoy the thousands of performances from all the orchestras, opera stars, and instrumentalists from around the world the past ten decades. And with ever improving technology, albums, despite their method of delivery (vinyl, cassette, CD, mp3...) will only get better and better. Here are the five nominees for Best Engineered Classical Album at this year's 55th annual Grammy Music Awards.
