The Synopsis of Lakme

After listening to Lakme's aria, "Ou va la jeune Indoue" (The Bell Song), on repeat last week while translating the lyrics, I couldn't get the opera out of my head.  So, I thought why keep it in my head when I can write it down.  Lakme is a tragic opera with very beautiful bel canto arias,  and many of them are extremely well known.  What's not as well known is the opera itself - at least to people who don't regularly listen to and attend operas.  Learn the synopsis of Delibes' opera, Lakme.
