Closing out the month of August, the LA Philharmonic has some exciting summer classical music concerts planned.   On Tuesday, Aug. 24, violinist Sarah Chang will join the LA Phil to perform the music of Shastakovich, including Tahiti Trot, Violin Concerto No. 1, and Symphony No. 5.  The following night, guest artists Jason Mraz, Monica Mancini, BeBe Winans, Nancy Wilson, St. Vincent, the Shelly Berg Trio, Gordon Goodwin, Tom Scoot, as well as Arturo Sandoval will present a unique concert comprised of music by George Gershwin.  The concert will present pop and jazz interpretations of Gershwin's famous melodies, which will correspond to the upcoming CD release of Gershwin Across America. On the 26th, you can hear Sir James Galway perform works by Mozart and Debussy on his flute.  On the 27th and 28th, John Williams will take the helm and conduct the LA Phil as they perform selections of his music used in the movies.  What a fitting way to end an exciting week of classical music in Hollywood!  For more information about the upcoming concerts, visit the LA Philharmonic.
