Happy Birthday Igor Stravinsky

127 years ago, the early 20th century Russian composer, Igor Stravinsky, was born. Like Beethoven to the Romantic Period, Stravinsky was a 20th Century music pioneer best know for his works, The Firebird, Petrushka, and The Rite of Spring. Stravinsky was named as one of Time magazine's 100 most influential people of the century, partly due to The Rite of Spring and its infamous riot. My father, Aloysio de Alencar Pinto(1911-2007),Brazilian pianist and composer had met Strawinski when attending Casadesus and Nadia Boulanger lessons at Fontainebleau,on the year 1938.On 1965, at Rio de Janeiro, we met again the great composer,who conducted several important works like his Mass and Psalm Symphony.He was a great artist.
