Classical Music Internet Radio

Thursday October 23, 2008
Here's a great way to hear classical music - Internet radio. Internet classical music radio stations offer a wide variety of music from all the periods of classical music. I've found a few internet radio stations I like to listen to when I'm in the mood for music outside of my collection. The only problem is that finding out what piece was just playing is near impossible unless you happen to hear the host announce the title and composer of the piece before or after the the song plays. Here are a few Internet classical music radio stations I recommend:
  • WGBH 89.7 - HD2
This NPR classical music radio station broadcasts in HD (a digital format), giving the music better sound quality than regular radio.
  • Naxos Radio
Naxos Radio is actually a collection of 80 classical music channels broken down by classical period, genre, instrument, world region, and more.

Pandora, available through Comcast, lets you create your own radio stations, selecting composers and pieces that you like. It’s really great - free too!
