The Premiere of Dr. Atomic

Tonight, the Metropolitan Opera will perform the premiere of Dr. Atomic by composer John Adams and his collaborator Peter Sellars. The opera's central character is J. Robert Oppenheimer, the physicist behind the creation of the atomic bomb, performed by baritone, Gerald Finley. Though they are not broadcasting the premiere, those of you interested in attending a performance of Dr. Atomic can attend the Met's Live in HD! broadcast on November 8, 2008. I don’t think it is the world premiere, since it had is Europian premiere a year ago in the summer of 2007 at the Holland Festival in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. You can see the whole opera and some interviews and work in progress footage at http://cultura.nps.nl/page/tv-gids/162420
