Renee Fleming - A Video Catalogue
Wednesday September 10, 2008
I love YouTube. Without it, we may have never had the opportunity to watch performances of some of the world's most beloved classical performers. Today, we'll take a look a handful of YouTube videos of the talented Renee Fleming. Enjoy!

The Sesame Street video i one of my favorites – of course a play off the Verdi area, “Caro nome” from “Rigoletto.” It’s funny how different singers have appeared on the show over the years – Marilyn Horne, Denyce Graves, etc. I think it’s wonderful that they want to introduce opera to little kids. If anyone loves the Christmas song, “O Holy Night” as much as I, you have to check out her youtube clip of a performance in Mainz, Germany (it’s actually on DVD). The dress she’s wearing is kind of ugly (there’s a starfish on her shoulder), but she sings the crap out of the high B at the end. I had the pleasure of seeing her perform O Holy Night live in Newark, NJ at NJPAC – I’ll never forget how she just held on to that high B, like she was painting the hall with beauty, with her sonic gold.
