New Opera Houses and Performing Arts Venues

Thursday June 12, 2008
Things are booming in Dubai. Not only are they building the world's tallest building, the world's largest collection of reclaimed land (making islands in the ocean), the world's first underwater hotel, they are also planning to build the world's first opera house shaped like a rolling sand dune. The 2,500-seat opera house and 800-seat play house will be designed by Zaha Hadid Architects. Visit Dezeen.com for pictures and information about this exciting opera house.

In the years to come, those living in the Kansas City area will enjoy exciting performances by the Kansas City Symphony, the Lyric Opera, and the Kansas City Ballet in their brand new 284,780-square-foot state-of-the-art facility. The new performing arts center will house two theaters: a 1,800-seat proscenium theater and a 1,600-seat concert hall. Visit the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts for more information.
