Pianist and Clarinetist Make an Unlikely Pair

Thursday January 17, 2008
NPR has posted another exciting couple of pieces of music this week. Pianist, Jon Nakamatsu and clarinetist, Jon Manasse perform Novacek's Rags for Clarinet and Piano and Weber's Grand Duo for Clarinet and Piano. Stop by NPR and give them a listen. For many of you, I'm sure these pieces are new to your ears, but I have no doubt you will find them enjoyable. Please, share your thoughts. I, and many other readers, would love to read your comments.

I just listened to a demo of the Weber Grand Duo played by Clarinetist Jon Manasse whom I’ve heard before, a truly excellent artist. Interesting to read that Mr. Manasse plays 1st clarinet with the Orchestra of the American Ballet Theatre a position held by my brother, Fred Loeb, now deceased, circa 1970-1980. I’ll make it a point to buy your disc of these compopsitions.
