Deutsche Grammophon is now open for business online. The critically acclaimed label, owned by Universal Music Group, is the first classical record label to make most of its catalogue available online for .mp3 downloading. So far, you'll be able to choose from 2,400 titles including 600 albums no longer available on CD. (Their ambitious goal is to upload their catalogue in its entirety including all the music you can't find on CD.) The cool thing - it doesn't matter if you own an iPod, Zune, or any other .mp3 player - DG's online music is compatible with all of them. Testing prior to the opening of the DG Web Shop has shown that their .mp3's are indistinguishable from CDs, so no worries about the loss of sound quality. Sign up for their newsletter prior to February 28, 2008, and receive a promotional code for one free download. Happy downloading!
