Composer Alban Berg, whose works are largely said to have been influenced by Debussy, Mahler, and Schönberg, was born on February 9, 1885. Unlike Mozart, Berg didn't study music as a child. Instead, he began his musical studies when he was 19 years old with the famous Arnold Schönberg in 1904. Below are two video links (part 1 and part 2) of his Piano Sonata, Op. 2. One of Berg's students, who later became a music theroist, says in his book Master of the Smallest Link that this piano sonata is the best intorduction to Berg's music. Happy Birthday Alban Berg!
