Classical Music Work of the Week

Sunday November 12, 2006
Currently listening to: Ralph Vaughan Williams' Concerto in A minor for Oboe and Strings from Masters of the Oboe
I came across Vaughan Williams Concerto in A minor for Oboe and Strings a few days ago, and haven't taken it off repeat just yet. I love how Williams' composes - some of his works remind me of an original score for a Hollywood movie. I have no doubt you'll find this piece as enjoyable as I do. If you're in the mood to listen to something new, something different, definitely get your hands on this!

If you like the Vaughan-Williams Oboe
Concerto you might also want to listen
to his Concerto Academico for Violin
as well as to his Tuba Concerto. All
in Vaughan-Williams distinctive style,
but a bit off the beaten path of familiar concerto repertoire.
