10 Classical Music Pieces You Know, But You Don't Know

Monday February 20, 2006
I can't tell you how many times somebody has asked me if I know the name of a particular piece. In many cases I'm able to help them, at least by pointing them in the right direction. But more often than not, many people can only hum a few bars (if that) of the piece in which they are searching. Because of this, I've decided to compile a list of the ten most inquired about classical music pieces. Find out if the song you're looking for is on this list.

I was wondering why you didn’t include anything from the Nutcracker or Chopin’s Funeral March. I think I hear Chopin’s Funeral March much more often than I hear Beethoven’s, although I am a fan of the 7th Symphony.

Thank you for an enjoyable article.

Also, Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue can be found in Woody Allen’s film Manhattan.
