Classical Music for Valentine's Day

Tuesday February 1, 2005
Make your Valentine's Day special this year with classical music. I know that finding the right classical music to fit the "bill" may be a challenging task, so I put together a couple of lists to help you.

  • Romantic Orchestra Music
  • Romantic Piano Music
  • Romantic Opera Music

These recommendations are just a stepping stone - a door into the world of classical music. I hope they serve you well. Happy Valentine's Day!

Check out our violin and cello duo CD that just came out called “Le Petit Mort”: . the story behind it is pretty wild. As quoted from the website:

“The title track, Le Petit Mort, translates as “The Little Death,” a French phrase meaning ‘orgasm.’ This long lost work is attributed to one of the first, great female composers, Elisabeth-Claude Jacquet de la Guerre. The legend goes that before her husband passed away in 1704, she wrote this work as a gift for her secret lover who longed for her while her husband was still alive, but dared not reveal himself. This piece was a secret message to her lover that if he waited, he would experience “Le Petit Mort.”

I really hadn’t thought of the gift of music for Valentine’s Day. What a great idea. Thanks for sparking some thought.
